* Maximum of and 8 and a minimum of 4 performers per group.
* The group must have a minimum of 2 non professionals per group.
* Choreograph a 3 minute routine with a theme and costume.
* The Performances must promote a positive image for pole dancing.
* Costumes and shows must be suitable for a family audience.

In the Beginning:

Pole Unity was the concept of KT Coates of Vertical Dance. Vertical Dance hosted Miss Pole Princess in 2006. It was the first nation wide amateur schools competition. The event was a great success but also huge disappointment. Success in that every one had a great evening, but a disappointment in that while they loved performing on stage, their performance was over shadowed by the fact that they were being judged. The idea of Pole Unity was born. A showcase for every one no matter what sex, race or ability and with one goal in mind; To show the world how pole has developed  over hundreds of years and how it has changes so many people lives for the better.

Over 30 theatres in and around London were contacted to host the event. Most never returned calls or email and some even said we should be ashamed of ourselves. We had only one response from the whyyllots theatre who said it would be a pleasure and it was here we set down our roots. With no funding we created Pole Unity from our own pockets and still do today!

The Growing Years:

The first event was amazingly successful. Amazing in that we had never created an event of such magnitude and were surprised it went without a hitch. The feedback surpassed our expectations. Every one begged us to put on another show and as we do every year we said no way! Five years on we are still putting on the shows...well we don't put on the show all of those who kindly perform put on the show.

Like any new event the second year is always an improvement. We knew what to expect. However, the standard shows got so much better. 2007 we invited a Chinese pole performer to take part in the event. she was inspiring!

Each year it grew bigger and bigger with more schools entering and more performers taking part.  2010 saw 180 performers  on stage with 25 schools. Over 65 schools applied to take part.

2011 marks the year of the Pole Unity licence. There are so few spaces for so many school we decided to give away the Pole Unity Licence to individual in different countries who wish to host a great charity event. We have received applications from South Africa, Argentina, Italy, Germany and many more. In 2011 we also want to increase our charity donations. This year looks to be the most successful yet, so please dig deep and donate well!

Where we're going:

Global!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our hopes are to get Pole Unity in every country across the world, so that every pole person get the opportunity to perform at least once in their life on stage. We hope to raise vast amounts of money for worth while causes and increase the profile of pole dancing one person at a time.
