Vertical Dance is very proud to present the ‘Level 2
Certificate in Instructing Vertical Dance’, the first ever externally
accredited Pole Dance course designed and written by industry experts
Vertical Dance and Focus Training.
The course had been externally accredited by NCFE, one
of the UK’s leading awarding bodies and also endorsed by Skills Active to
give 16 CPD points for the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). By
becoming a qualified Vertical Dance Instructor you will also be eligible for
Insurance through the REPs.
The course is designed for those with existing fitness
qualifications at level 2, such as Exercise to Music qualifications
externally accredited by CYQ, OCR or AIQ.
Combined OCR in Exercise to Music and NCFE in
Instructing Vertical Dance (total 36 Reps CPD)
This course is designed to
fast-track those students who do not hold an exercise to music qualification
but wish to teach Vertical Dance group exercise sessions. You will gain the
skills and knowledge to safely and effectively teach both traditional
exercise to music and vertical dance exercise sessions.
Course Format
After booking your
course you will be sent your learning materials comprising 4
manuals, a workbook, a DVD and your student guide.
Upon
receipt of your learning materials, your tutor will contact you to help to
plan your study. Your tutor will schedule your workload, ensuring adequate
preparation for your attendance days. Dates will be agreed for coursework to
be sent to be marked and telephone appointments will be made to allow tutors
to give you regular feedback on the work that you submit. This also gives
the opportunity for tutors to answer any queries that you may have.
Once
you have completed your home study work, and are fully prepared for your
assessment, you will attend three blocks of 2 day workshops. These fun and
challenging days will allow you to practice your teaching skills using the
latest moves and choreography, whilst receiving support and guidance from
our tutors. The first 2 days are aimed at introducing traditional exercise
to music skills. You will receive feedback teaching these types of sessions
on this first weekend. On the second 2 days you will concentrate on learning
the technical aspects of teaching vertical dance. You will get the chance to
practice and master the moves on the pole and again receive feedback on your
ability to teach these types of sessions. The 5th day will allow
you to practice your full session whilst receiving feedback from the tutor.
You will also have the opportunity to master the movers on the pole.
The 6th
day is the final assessment day. You will teach a combined exercise to music
and vertical dance session. This will last approximately 45-60mins.
Who should go on the course?
Those wishing to
teach vertical dance sessions, or those already teaching them and
require a formal qualification.

What is an Exercise To Music Qualification?
For those that do not hold a certification in ETM, I will give you a
brief description of the course. To teach any studio based class involving
music you require this qualification. It includes work on the bodies
anatomy, customer care, planning and teaching an ETM class, safe and
effective warm up and cool down, choreography and music structure, the
components of physical fitness and much more. It will give you a great
foundation to teaching a Pole Dance class.

How is the Vertical Dance Course structured?
The course consists of 3 days structured training and 1 day of
practical exam assessment. This is delivered over two weekends, one
month apart. There is an element of written and practical
assessment, with work books and manuals. You will be taught the
skills required to deliver a safe and effective exercise Class
based around a pole at basic level.
Are there other courses out there?
Yes there are other courses on the market that provide teacher
training but these courses are unrecognised, this is the only Pole
Dance course
in the world to be accredited by an awarding body.
The role of an awarding body is to scrutinise the
delivery and assessment to ensure it meets sufficient quality
standards. You can therefore guarantee that this course will offer
you the content and quality that you would expect from any
mainstream qualification.
Will I be Insured to teach
pole?
The Vertical Dance Instructors Qualification is the only course That
is recognised by Reps insurance, FitPro and all other insurance
companies, once you have shown them a copy of your certificate.
